Support for employees and participants

Racing Welfare provides help for those in need, who work, or have worked, in the British racing and Thoroughbred breeding indstry.

Although most of those helped by Racing Welfare are stable and stud staff, the charity is also there to give support to trainers and breeders should they need it. A Helpline is open 24 hours a day and provides confidential, impartial help and advice to anyone in need. Call 0800 6300443 for help with:

Health and Safety

The 7th Edition of the Health & Safety in the “Racing and Thoroughbred Breeding Industry- Guidelines on Good Practice” is available to members (via the link); please note that you will need to register with Racing2Learn but, as a TBA Member, you should not be charged. The Guidelines have been produced by the BHA with input from the TBA and the National Stud to ensure its relevance to the Breeding Industry.

Also known as the Red Book, the Guide is accompanied by a 'toolkit' which contains a full suite of editable documents for you to download and complete to suit the individual needs of your business; the Toolkit is available to members (via the link). These documents can be used to form the basis of your Health and Safety policy and accompanying documents. Included are a Health and Safety Statement and Policy; this is the starting point for meeting the basic objectives required by law. The Toolkit should be used with reference to the Guidelines for Health and Safety in the Racing and Thoroughbred Breeding Industries (Red Book).
