Support Us

Your support is vitally important to the work of the TBA and achieving its charitable objectives to protect and promote the future of the British thoroughbred.

The Association relies on funds from a number of sources, and is indebted to the kind generosity of those within the thoroughbred breeding and racing community for its ongoing support. However, industry funds are very much influenced by the wider economic climate and there are many ways in which you can support the Association to ensure all of the charitable work can continue.

Donate

Donations help the TBA continue its important work to protect the legacy and future of the British thoroughbred. Your donation will contribute to the Association’s work in education and training, equine health and welfare.

Sales Levy

Both British thoroughbred sales companies include in their conditions of sale a 0.75% (£7.50 per £1,000) deduction from the sales proceeds of each lot payable to British vendors unless vendors specifically instruct the relevant company not to do so.

The Sales Levy is collected by the sales houses and is paid to the TBA for the purposes of furthering its charitable work, such as the TBA’s financing of veterinary research, furthering the welfare of British bred and consigned bloodstock and educational activities.

The TBA is grateful to the Directors of Goffs UK and Tattersalls for their ongoing support of the British breeding industry through the Sales Levy initiative.

Foal Levy

By contributing to the TBA’s Veterinary Research Fund through the Foal Levy you are supporting key equine health and welfare programmes including veterinary research projects with an emphasis on reproduction, and the infectious disease surveillance service.

The ultimate objective of the fund is to improve thoroughbred health and benefit breeding operations through increased understanding of biosecurity measures, horse welfare and veterinary science advances.

You can donate to the fund at the time of your Foal Registration with Weatherbys by electing to give £12.50 to help the TBA continue its vital work to advance equine health and welfare.

Legacies

Leaving a legacy will support the work of the TBA in protecting the future of the British thoroughbred. It can support the TBA’s veterinary research for equine health improvements, education and training to improve horse welfare, and the TBA’s work to represent the interests of the breed and breeders across the industry and with Government.
