TBA Statement in relation to the chancellor’s decision to retain current betting tax on racing

“On behalf of the British breeding industry, we welcome the Government’s decision to exempt racing from increases to betting duty in 2027, which reflects clear recognition of the significant economic and cultural contribution our sport makes to communities across the country.

"We are extremely grateful to the many breeders who voiced their support throughout the 'Axe the Racing Tax' campaign, and to the BHA for coordinating a strong, unified industry response.

"We recognise that wider taxation changes announced today may have other implications for both the sector and the sport and we look forward to continuing our work with both stakeholders and Government to champion a world-leading British racing and breeding industry.”
