Anthea Gibson Fleming

Career/Profession – I have worked for bloodstock agent Amanda Skiffington at the sales, and I also have a small number of my own clients, whom I advise and assist.  I am presently Regional Chairman for the South West Area of the TBA. Breeding/Racing Interests – I breed for both Flat and National Hunt, keeping two horses at home and others in partnerships. I also lease the occasional filly to race. Profile – Whilst attending many sales, I get the opportunity to meet a lot of Breeders and also keep in touch with different trainers.  Having personal experience of breeding racehorses, and the associated costs of keep, stallion nominations, veterinary fees, etc., I would like to represent the small breeders on the TBA Board, whose breeding and racing future is determined by sales returns.

John Needham

Career/Profession - After an initial career in the city of London as an interbank dealer and broker I took over Elmhurst Bloodstock 16 years ago to fulfil a life-long ambition to work in the bloodstock industry. Breeding/Racing Interests – Bloodstock consultant/manager and insurance broker. A lifetime racing enthusiast and small breeder. In my youth I rode as an amateur rider both on the Flat and under NH rules also riding in local Point-to-Points. Profile  I have been a member of the TBA for over 30 years and for the last six years I have been the Regional Chairman for the South East.  I run the TBA Bloodstock Insurance for members and also administer the TBA third party insurance policy. In these roles I speak to many small breeders on a regular basis and I understand their problems. It is their interests that I am keen to represent should I be elected to the board of the TBA. We need to encourage new breeders with more training courses for young people and by encouraging more racehorse owners to breed with incentives for racing fillies. Of particular interest to me is the expanding of TBA training and education programmes for stud staff out into the Regional Areas with short/evening lectures at studs.

Ted Voute

Career/Profession – Owner and hands-on Manager of Voute Farm in Stratford-upon-Avon and Eydon, approx. 400 acres.  Racing and Stud Consultant to Prince A A Faisal.  Director of Voute Sales Ltd. consignor in both Europe and USA and member of the Federation of Bloodstock Agents.  Past Council member of both the TBA and the ROA.  Past manager of Adstock Manor Stud and Littleton Stud standing stallions, Fair Winter Farm a private Stud, and past consultant for Lawn Stud, Biddestone Stud, Barrettstown Stud and Clearsky Farm in the USA. Breeding/Racing interestsOwner of five commercial mares in UK and USA. Horses in training with Mick Channon and previously with John Gosden. Best horses sold/purchased/bred include Authorized (Epsom Derby), Shamardal (French Derby), Milan (St Leger), Bosra Sham (1000 Gns.), Pure Grain (Irish Oaks), Belardo (Dewhurst). ProfileAt a time when the TBA has a strong Board that represents its Members, my contribution would be grass roots hands-on knowledge of both commercial and owner/breeder Stud Farming, with intense auction and commercial experience both in Europe and the USA at ground level.

Chris Wright CBE

Career/Profession – I founded the music, TV, radio and media group, Chrysalis PLC, in 1967 and was chairman until it was sold in 2011. Breeding/Racing interests – Existing TBA Board member and successful owner/breeder worldwide. Profile – I joined the TBA Board with a mission to represent the smaller members, both owner and commercial breeders. I took on the mantle of increasing the awareness of the TBA and its relevance to the industry. I believe I have been successful on both counts, but there is still more to be achieved. We appointed a Communication and Marketing Director, organised a series of discounted purchases, launched the breeder orientated Plus10 scheme, maintained a high level of stud visits and initiated the Economic Impact Study. We plan to increase the opportunities for both sprinting and staying fillies to achieve Black Type, by creating more Listed and Group races specifically targeted at these fillies. I participate in all aspects of the TBA board, sit on the Audit Committee, and I am the TBA representative on the Board of Thoroughbred Owner & Breeder Magazine. I have been asked to represent the TBA as a Trustee of Retraining of Racehorses, a vital initiative, and something dear to my heart. I have the necessary time to devote my energies to both breeding thoroughbreds and to being a significant presence in our organisation. I hope you will see fit to give me your continued support.
