TBA appoints Claire Sheppard as Chief Executive

The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA) today announced that Claire Sheppard has been appointed Chief Executive Officer by its Board of Trustees. She joins the TBA from the Racecourse Association.
Sheppard has over 20 years’ experience in the racing industry, which includes a five year term as Chief Executive of Plumpton Racecourse. She leaves her current post as Racing Director of the RCA after three years of service.
Julian Richmond-Watson, Chairman of the TBA said: “I am delighted that Claire has agreed to become the TBA’s Chief Executive Officer.
“She brings a wealth of experience in racing administration and a personal interest in the sport. She has a good relationship with many of the key stakeholders within racing and has a track record of delivering strategic objectives as CEO.
“We all look forward to working with her to achieve the best outcomes for our members across the many facets of the breeding industry.”
Sheppard commented: "I am thrilled to be offered this vital role within the industry, leading the team that represents the interests of British thoroughbred breeders. Stephen Atkin, Chief Executive of the Racecourse Association said: “Claire has been a much valued member of the RCA team and we are very appreciative of her leadership and tireless efforts on fixture, funding and race planning matters, which are of critical importance for racecourses. We are of course sad to lose her, but all here at the RCA wish Claire every success in her new role and we look forward to working with her and her team in further strengthening the relationship between the RCA and TBA.”
