TBA ANNOUNCE SECOND NH BREEDERS’ DAY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WARWICK RACECOURSE

The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA) is delighted to announce the second NH Breeders’ Day at Warwick Racecourse on Thursday 20 November where the both the race programme for the afternoon and supporting activity is centred around NH breeders.

Prior to racing, the TBA will host an educational seminar designed for TBA members, and non-member breeding enthusiasts with an expert panel and Q&A session.

The seminar will be hosted by Jess Stafford with TBA National Hunt Committee Chair, Simon Cox, BHA Racing Operations Manager, Stu Middleton, and trainer, Jamie Snowden, with an in-depth discussion on the evolution of mares’ programme – its success, black type programme, general mare population, prevalence in the general population and winning big races.

This will be followed by a discussion around ongoing activity to support NH breeding including; the impact of GBBPlus since its launch last year, along with the recently expanded Elite NH Mares’ Scheme for the upcoming season. Discussion will also focus on the enhancement of the mare's programme and its impact on trainers and their behaviours, and at the sales. The seminar will be followed by a Q&A session with further panellists to be announced.

Following the morning seminar, attendees can look forward to a seven-race card in the afternoon, where the feature is a class 2 veterans chase, and where the race programme has been put together to highlight breeder friendly races, including five mares’ only contests, including a junior ‘NH’ hurdle.

Simon Cox, TBA trustee and NH committee chair added: “We are really pleased to be partnering with Warwick once again to have a raceday centred around our breeders. The challenges facing National Hunt breeding are very real and this is a valuable opportunity to discuss and debate the challenges faced by those generating the product as well as the initiatives available and their impact. This is a chance for idea sharing and we really want to hear from breeders.”

“We have got a great panel lined up, all coming from a different aspect, and in partnership with Warwick are really looking to build another highly educational and informative day.”

Thomas Williams, General Manager at Warwick added: “We are delighted to be staging the second running of Breeders’ Day in association with the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, following the fantastic success of last year’s inaugural event. Warwick Racecourse is proud to celebrate the vital role breeders play in British racing, and this day provides the perfect opportunity to showcase their contribution to the sport while offering racegoers a great afternoon of competitive action.”

The seminar will get underway at 10am with doors opening from 9.30am providing plenty of time for networking with refreshments on arrival. The dedicated area will be a base that all attendees will be able to make use of throughout the day.
