TB-Ed LAUNCH NEW ONLINE ‘GETTING THE IN MARE IN FOAL’ PROGRAMME
TB-Ed, the educational platform of the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association, has today launched a new ‘Getting the Mare in Foal Programme’ – an industry-leading series of online courses designed specifically for thoroughbred breeders, stud farm managers and their employees, as well as anyone with an interest in equine reproduction.
This multi-course programme provides industry-leading education covering the fundamental aspect of successful breeding management, from basic reproductive anatomy through to fertility optimisation procedures. Developed by leading experts in equine reproduction, the courses combine veterinary input with practical, real-world application.
The programme begins with essential foundations, exploring the mare's reproductive anatomy and the intricacies of the oestrous cycle. Learners then progress through courses covering breeding readiness evaluation, optimal covering management and the diagnostic procedures that underpin modern reproductive veterinary practice. Advanced courses address fertility challenges, post-covering examination protocols, and laboratory techniques essential for maintaining high conception rates throughout the breeding season.
Caroline Turnbull, Industry Education and Retention Manager for the TBA commented: “We are really pleased to launch this new online course as part of the TB-Ed offering which now hosts 24 online courses and 81 resources on the site and which has become a vital tool to support the stud sector with over 1,000 registered users.
“Each course within the programme is accredited by the British Horseracing Authority for Continuing Professional Development and the flexible online format allows participants to learn at their own pace and in their own time, with expert-led content accessible from anywhere in the world and we hope will be really well received.”
Joe Grimwade, Industry Consultant for the TBA added: "There have been considerable advances in equine stud farm medicine in my lifetime, and our vets are essential to the success of a thoroughbred breeding operation.
"This programme equips breeders and their staff with the knowledge required to understand key veterinary procedures - and make informed management decisions - throughout the processes of foal production.”
Whether you're an owner-breeder managing a mare, a small band of mares or a stud farm manager overseeing a larger breeding operation, the Getting the Mare in Foal Programme provides the comprehensive education needed to maximise breeding success.
The programme is now available exclusively through TB-Ed at www.tb-ed.com and is free of charge to TBA members/ACCESS subscribers. Non-members can access the full programme with two courses priced at £45 and two courses at £145.
