The TBA has been made aware of several recent outbreaks of Equine Influenza in vaccinated horses across Europe. Click here to view a summary of recent equine influenza reports in UK and Europe (update on 21 Jan 2019).
Please remain vigilant for symptoms of Equine Influenza amongst your horses including nasal discharge, an elevated temperature and a dry cough. It is recommended that you follow the Animal Health Trust’s Equiflunet guidelines which can be accessed through the link below. Veterinary Surgeons can sign up to the surveillance service, where swabs can be tested free of charge by the Animal Health Trust team, to ensure that a correct diagnosis is obtained and the Trust can continue to monitor the various strains of the virus for future vaccine development.
