ONLINE AUCTION OF NH STALLION NOMINATIONS LAUNCHED

British National Hunt mare owners are encouraged to make use of the 2025/26 Elite NH Mares’ Scheme, with the deadline for applications closing on 31 January 2026. Funded by the HBLB and run by the TBA, the scheme provides subsidised and, in some cases, free nominations to 26 eligible British-based stallions.

Following its previous success, the 2026 scheme saw its funding double to £400,000 and is designed to reward owners of mares proven on the racecourse or at stud. It has helped contribute to a marked increase in the number of elite Jump broodmares in Britain since its inception, from around 150 a decade ago to 300 at present.

Mares can qualify by their highest Official Rating or progeny produced, with the ability to enhance their category by satisfying multiple criteria. The 2026 scheme has been simplified, with eligible mares put into two categories:

  • Category 1A – 150+ rated mare: £5,000 grant
  • Category 1B – producer of 160+ rated gelding or 150+ rated mare: £5,000 grant
  • Category 2A – 130-149 rated mare: £4,000 grant
  • Category 2B – producer of 140-159 rated gelding or 130-149 rated mare: £4,000 grant

Additionally, each year as part of the scheme, stallion managers provide a free nomination to the 26 eligible stallions for an Online Auction, the proceeds of which fund key TBA National Hunt initiatives.

The auction is now live - galabid.com/tba26  – and will close at 19:00 (GMT), on Friday 23 January 2026. Bids can be made via the website.

By signing up and placing a bid, participants are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the auction and for the TBA to contact them via telephone or email should they be the winning bidder of a lot.

The TBA would like to thank each of the stallion managers who have provided a nomination for this auction.
