Get to know the TBA Board Nominees 2026

My own experience combines a longstanding commercial CV as a marketer, a strategist, and a CEO across a variety of global businesses, together with an interest in all things horse, from polo to hunting and horseracing. I am also a former CEO of the British Equestrian Federation, having been responsible for the British Olympic and Paralympic teams in Rio, where we achieved twelve medals. I discovered horseracing via the Magnolia Cup, which I completed three times, under the colourful tuition of Gary Moore, in whose yard my life as an owner also began. I am also currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Bank of Ireland UK and Hampshire Trust Bank.

Ten years ago, my husband and I founded Apedroc Stud, a boutique Stud farm in the heart of the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, breeding for the flat. The TBA was a key support to our fledgling business, providing vital education, friendly guidance, and access to a network of like-minded souls.

The TBA has a vital role to play in securing the future of British horse-racing. The UK was the cradle of the sport, and breeding has been at the heart of this success, giving us a key voice in sustaining horseracing here. The TBA punches above its weight on the global stage, but we can no longer take our place at the table for granted, in the face of falling foal crops, economic headwinds, and threats to the social licence and equine welfare. British breeding is sustained by a modest army of small breeders, passionate about what they do, but constantly teetering on the brink of ruin or reward.

As a Trustee, I would like to play a part in ensuring that there is a healthy and profitable future for British breeders, which is in turn crucial to the success of the sector as a whole.

Attracting new breeders to the sector and preparing them for success is a key element of this and is at the heart of the TBA's role.

I was always ‘pony mad’ as a child, and that passion for horses stayed with me. I went on to spend many years in equine education, ultimately earning a Master’s degree in Equine Science. In 2003, when the opportunity arose, I established Maywood Stud. Now based in Carmarthenshire I am a passionate small breeder with a strong commitment to the future of the British thoroughbred industry. Working on a smaller scale has given me a practical understanding of the challenges faced by independent breeders, along with the dedication and horsemanship needed to produce and care for thoroughbreds.

My breeding and racing interests are centred around maintaining high standards of care, continuing to carefully produce thoroughbreds capable of competing successfully at the highest level.

I believe the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association plays a vital role in representing breeders of every size and protecting the future of British breeding, which is why I am seeking election to the TBA board.

As a mother of three young children, I also have a strong interest in encouraging greater youth engagement within racing and helping future generations develop a wider understanding and appreciation of the industry and its importance. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to the future of British breeding and support the interests of all breeders, I would bring enthusiasm, commitment, a willingness to listen, and a practical outlook shaped by hands-on experience.

Smaller breeders and family run studs play an important role within the wider racing and breeding community, and I believe their experience and contribution should continue to be recognised and supported by ensuring smaller operations continue to have a valued voice within the industry. I would welcome opportunities to encourage the use of modern communication and technology to improve accessibility, collaboration, and broader participation across the industry.

As a passionate National Hunt & Flat breeder, a former amateur jockey & national hunt trainer, I have now run Molland Ridge Stud & Rehabilitation for 12 years. Being fully involved with the breeding, sales consignment, pretraining & rehabilitation of racehorses

Having spent the last four years as TBA trustee is, I feel it is important to keep the small breeder representative within the TBA. Being fully involved with the breeding, sales consignment, pre-training & rehabilitation of racehorses, I feel I put a young, keen working ethic onto the TBA and understand the industry throughout.

For me, I am putting myself forward to retain a place on the TBA Board because I want to keep a voice for the small breeder and National Hunt breeders, as well as the small consignors who do not always get treated in the same way as the commercial outfits. Working closely with a lot of big trainers to rehabilitate their injured horses, I feel I get a bit of the whole industry that is of the before, during and after racing, which I feel is important to consider when evaluating future targets within the TBA

I would like to help the TBA progress a strategy to support British breeders and reward the breeder for producing successful GB-bred horses. Encourage a strategy to get UK trainers to buy/train more British-bred horses, but most of all create a pathway for the younger generation to breed thoroughbreds or work in the industry. I would like to help create a more secure future for British breeding to continue and progress our breed.
