BHA Update - Concussion guidelines for grassroots sport

The Government has today published the first ever UK-wide Concussion Guidelines for grassroots sport, which aim to help better identify, manage and prevent concussion.

The guidelines, which have been developed by leading medical professionals, including the BHA’s Chief Medical Adviser, Dr Jerry Hill, provide useful information about spotting signs of concussion and what to do if someone is concussed – for example in a stud farm.

British racing already has comprehensive concussion protocols in place for jockeys and riders licenced by the BHA (amateurs and professionals), and the guidance published today is more relevant and appropriate for employers and employees at stud farms and racing yards.

The guidance can be read in here

British racing is also in the process of developing more industry-specific guidance in the form of an online training module with downloadable resources, which will further support the way you and your teams manage concussion and the safe return to work.
