Another of this year’s TBA 3-2-1 Point to Point bonuses has been awarded to Rapaport following her run in the Goffs UK Spring Sale P2P Bumper Standard National Hunt Flat Race at Aintree on 18 May.
The initiative gives the opportunity for owners of mares to win a bonus of up to £3,000 in any of the three end-of-season bumpers run under Rules on licensed racecourses. The bonus operates on a sliding scale with the highest placed mare in each of the bonus races receiving a £1,000 bonus, a further £1,000 if she is British bred and another £1,000 if she is owned by a TBA member.
Rapaport, who is owned by Nicola Bulgin and trained by her husband Toby Bulgin finished fourth behind Rob the Getaway in the Aintree race, making her the highest placed mare and being bred in Great Britain and owned by a TBA member meant that she was awarded the full bonus of £3,000.
The six-year-old mare is by Champion Point-to-Point Sire, Dr Massini out of the Point-to-Point mare, Seemarye. She was bred by Glanvilles Stud and bought by Toby Bulgin as a three-year-old for just £1,500 from the DBS November Sale and has since been placed in all three of her races, including a win in a JRL Group P2P Flat Race at Garthorpe in April.
When asked about winning the bonus, Rapaport’s owner Nicola Bulgin commented: I believe the bonus scheme for mares, both point to point and under rules, is a great incentive for owners and trainers to purchase fillies at the sales. This is a very positive step forward for National Hunt breeders who otherwise may have struggled to even cover their nomination costs in the past if they produced a filly.
The next race to carry the bonus will be the ITM Champion Point-to-Point Bumper which will be held at Stratford on 8th June.
