Single Farm Payments

English farmers will now be receiving full payments under the Single Payment Scheme. A total of £1.6 billion will be paid directly into farmers’ and growers’ bank accounts or by payable order, starting at the end of February and with the bulk complete in March. All payments will be well within the window set by EU legislation which runs until 30th June 2006.

The TBA is continuing to lobby the Scottish Executive regarding their decision not to entitle land grazed by horses to SFP funds. The Scottish MEP Catherine Stihler has written to the Minister on our behalf, and we are exploring other possibilities of raising the issue.
