British Stud Staff Training Scheme
The British Stud Staff Training Scheme (BSSTS) Committee is responsible for moving the recommendations of the Donoughue Report forward, through the TBA Training and Recruitment Manager, Caroline Turnbull. One of the key recommendations, an Employers’ register, has been launched and the following benefits are now available to registered employers on a dedicated website linked to this website:
- Employment advice and documentation
- Health and Safety Advice
- Quarterly employment law newsletter
- Information on recruitment and staff training
A key objective of the TBA is to promote the recruitment, training and retention of new and existing stud staff at all levels. We provide continued professional development for breeders including the annual three-day Stud Farming Course, veterinary and bloodstock breeding seminars. The Stud Staff Award Scheme gives employers an opportunity to demonstrate an appreciation of their staff. See the AWARDS section to nominate your staff and to see the past winners. In addition and in a response to the publication of the Lord Donoughue’s Stable and Stud Staff Report, the TBA has embarked on a project to implement the Report’s recommendations and further support employers and their staff. The publication of Lord Donoughue’s Stable and Stud Staff Commission Report in 2004 resulted in the TBA making a strong commitment to tackle recommendations on recruitment, training and employment of stud staff.
