Maiden Mares Point to Point Series (2008 Season)

The Thoroughbred Breeders Association/Master of Foxhounds Association PPORA Club Members Maiden for Mares Point ­to­ Point Series 2008

The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association is once again to be joined by the Masters of Foxhounds Association, as co-­sponsors of the Maiden Mares Point­ to ­Point Series for 2008. 2008 marks the TBA’s tenth year of Point­ to­ Point sponsorship and we are delighted to be involved with the MFHA for this, whose affinity with the sport at all levels closely identifies with the TBA’s own aims and objectives.

Whilst British Point­ to ­Point racing has recently seen a decline in the number of mares that have been campaigned, the number of entries and runners in the TBA’s Maiden Mares series has recorded healthy increases. This development has been particularly rewarding as it addresses two of the TBA National Hunt Committee’s objectives ; to provide an opportunity to test and identify the best mares in races against their own sex at all levels, and to support the emergence of Point­ to ­Point racing in Great Britain as a nursery for young horses, recognizing those with the potential to graduate to racing “under NH rules”.
