TBA Stallion Parade at Tattersalls, Thursday 4th February 2010.

A HOST OF STARS WERE ON SHOW AT THE TBA STALLION PARADE

This day offered breeders a wonderful opportunity to see an impressive collection of sires in one place, the parade boasted stallions both established and new, including ten Group One winners ranging from top-class juveniles to classic heroes.

Three 2000 Guineas winners were on show with Shadwell’s 2004 victor Haafhd being joined by dual Guineas winner Cockney Rebel and Refuse To Bend, who is about to embark on his first season in England after being relocated to Whitsbury Manor Stud.

Also making the journey from Whitsbury Manor was July Cup winner Sakhee’s Secret, while other crack sprinters on show included first-season stallion Captain Gerrard, now standing at Mickley Stud, and Bertolini, who is already a Group One sire.

Bertolini’s fellow Overbury Stud resident, the Sussex Stakes winner Proclamation, has his first runners in 2010 as does the National Stud’s globetrotting Group One winner Phoenix Reach, who will be joined by the stud’s new recruit Myboycharlie, who has just returned from his first season at Vinery Stud in Australia.

Two other new stallions at the parade were Virtual, winner of last season’s Lockinge Stakes who returns to stand at the place of his birth, Cheveley Park Stud, and Winker Watson, the high-class two-year-old who has joined Norman Court Stud’s roster.

Eclipse winner Mount Nelson, who proved popular in his debut season in 2009, made the short trip from Newsells Park Stud in Royston and, completing the line-up was Tobougg, the stallion with the farthest to travel from his home at East Burrow Farm in Devon and who enjoyed great results on the track last year, both on the flat and over hurdles.

Each stallion was shown in the sales ring at Tattersalls and was available for closer inspection after the conclusion of the parade.
