WALES REGIONAL DAY - 26th June
Despite a break in the weather, sixty five members supported the first Welsh Regional Meeting, hosted by David and Will Hodge at Llety Stud, in the picturesque and lush welsh landscape.
Recently appointed Regional Chairman, Louise Parry, aided by another new recruit Patrick Burling who covers the north of the region, members were welcomed and all agreed that the day marked a good start, to what promises to be a re-energized Region.
David's enthusiasm and his plans for Llety Stud were shared by the adjoining Dyffryn Tywi Equine Clinic, which provides an excellent on-hand facility for the Hodges and their clients stock. Resident stallion Auction House was a credit to the team at Llety, who stayed several steps ahead of the members and guests catching up mares and foals for the visitors to inspect. This was followed by an opportunity to view the sales yearlings housed, on this occasion, in some particularly useful high boarded all weather turnout paddocks.
A tour of the veterinary clinic preceded lunch at the Halfway Inn, Nantgaredig, followed by a dash across the A48 to Ffos Las. The Racecourse had enjoyed its first meeting the week before and it was a timely opportunity to meet up with Racecourse Director Mark Kershaw, who took members on to the course to see at first hand why everyone is enthusing about the track design and going. With over 900 annual members already signed up, and corporate bookings soaring ahead of estimations, it was satisfying to see the team at Ffos Las receiving their just rewards.
