TBA Annual Clay Shoot afternoon, 2nd August
The annual TBA Clay Pigeon Shoot brought another successful afternoon of top guns, sun and fierce competition! Held at the Lakenheath Country Club on the evening of the 2nd August, 14 teams comprised of TBA members and guests shot their way through five individual stands, followed by a 50-bird “sporting flush.”
The winning team, with an impressive 146, was Paradise Farm Stud (William Poole, Clive Smith and Martin Reynolds) who not only took home the Rossdale & Partners trophy but also £150 and three magnums of champagne, kindly donated by Haynes Hanson & Clark. Paradise Farm Stud also won the Flush Award, with 27 out of 50.
Close behind the leaders were last year’s champions, Juddmonte Farms Ltd (Ed Murrell, Chris Raithby and Simon Mitchell) who narrowly missed out, scoring 144 points. However, they took comfort in receiving the first team prize in the Special Stud Award, taking home a ton of horse feed, kindly donated by Sharp Nutrition Ltd and £100.
Newprint (Graham Henderson, Giles Henderson and Nick Curtis) gallantly shot to third team place winning themselves three bottles of wine.
Within the Special Stud Award division, for the top team comprised solely of staff who have been employed full time on a stud since January 2007, first individual was awarded to Ed Murrell from Juddmonte and second individual to Dave Smith of New England. Katie Powell from the Royal Studs won the Ladies Award, taking home a bottle of champagne.
In the Individual division, first prize with a fantastic score of 48 out of 50, was awarded to Martin Reynolds from Paradise Farm Stud. With 47 out of 50, Ed Murrell secured second individual place and Dave Smith from New England Stud was awarded third, narrowly won on the flush!
Our grateful thanks go to all our sponsors – Calders & Gandridge, Haynes Hanson & Clark, Juddmonte Farms Ltd, Newmarket Racehorse Transport, Newprint Ltd, Rossdale & Partners, Sharp Nutrition Ltd and Thurlow Nunn Standen.
