TBA Annual Golf Weekend, 5th & 6th August

The annual TBA golf weekend was again well supported, with 40 golfers heading to the Celtic Manor Resort in the Usk Valley on Sunday 5th and Monday 6th August.

On Sunday an informal/preparatory 18-hole round was played on the new Montgomerie course, apparently the course was quite testing, with many of the players vowing to use a buggy on the Monday! This individual competition was won by Paul Arnold of the Interchange Organisation. The evening dinner and player auction were as lively as ever, lasting into the small hours of the morning! Playing the Roman Road course on Monday, twenty teams tee-ed off against each other, with the resulting winners being Simon Hope and David Erwin representing Aston Mullins Stud, winning the TBA Golf Cup by an impressive 7 points. The Darley cup for the ‘longest drive’ competition went to Michael Bell, with the Banstead Manor Cup for ‘nearest the pin’ going to Josh Apiafi from Betfair, and ‘nearest the pin in two shots’, winning the Newsells Park Cup, to Simon Plumbly, TBA Point to Point organiser.

Prize money for two fillies’ races, is raised through sums collected from hole sponsors, racecourse contributions and the player auction. This year the flat race is to be held at Musselburgh and and a jumps race at Taunton.
